Go to Settings → Categories management. There are separate lists for expense and income categories.
Add a category: tap Add category, then:
- type a Name, e.g. "Pets"
- pick an Icon, or tap Use an emoji instead
- pick a Colour
- add Subcategories if you want, e.g. Pets → Food, Vet, Grooming
Edit: tap a category to rename it, change its icon or colour, or add and remove subcategories. Renaming updates every past record, because they're linked to the category, not its name.
Reorder: drag categories into the order you want. This is the order on Add expense.
Hide: tap the eye to hide a category from Add expense (and from keyword rules). Past expenses keep showing it.
Delete: open it and tap Delete category. If it's in use, NEXO tells you how many expenses and budgets use it first:
- its expenses move to Uncategorized
- its budgets are deleted
Custom categories in a shared space: if you use a category your partner doesn't have, e.g. "Pets", they still see the expense labelled "Pets", with a general icon.
