Terms & Conditions

1. Introduction

Welcome to Nexo ("the App", "we", "us", "our"), a personal and shared expense-tracking application operated by Khaw Jyh Boon ("the Operator").

By downloading, accessing, or using Nexo, you ("you", "the User") agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, to use Nexo. By using the App, you represent that you meet this requirement.

Nexo is offered in a free tier and a paid premium subscription tier ("Nexo Premium"). The features included in each tier are described in the App and on our store listings, and may change over time (see Section 10.5).

Nexo is a record-keeping tool only. It does not connect to your bank, hold funds, process payments, or provide financial, tax, or investment advice. Exchange rates shown in the App are indicative and may not reflect real-time market rates.

4. Accounts

  1. You must register an account to use the App. You agree to provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
  2. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account.
  3. Notify us immediately at support@nexoexpenses.com if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
  4. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

5. Shared Expenses & Multi-User Features

  1. When you share an expense group, wallet, or record with another user, that user can view the data you share within that group.
  2. You are responsible for only sharing data with people you trust. We are not responsible for how other users handle information you voluntarily share with them.
  3. Removing a shared user does not necessarily delete data they previously had access to.

  1. You retain ownership of the data you enter into Nexo (transactions, notes, etc.) ("User Content").
  2. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to store, process, and display your User Content solely to operate and improve the App.
  3. You agree not to upload content that is unlawful, infringing, or harmful.

8. Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, code, logos, and branding, is owned by the Operator and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks or branding.

9. Third-Party Services

Nexo relies on third-party infrastructure and services (e.g., cloud database and authentication providers, app distribution platforms). Your use of the App is also subject to the terms of those platforms (e.g., Google Play, Apple App Store). We are not responsible for third-party services outside our control.

10. Subscriptions, Fees & Billing

10.1 Nexo Premium

Certain features of the App are available only with a paid Nexo Premium subscription. Premium is offered as an auto-renewing subscription (e.g., monthly or yearly). Current prices, billing periods, and included features are displayed in the App before you subscribe. Prices may vary by region and are subject to change; changes will not affect a billing period you have already paid for.

10.2 Billing Through App Stores

All subscription payments are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play, depending on where you downloaded the App. We do not collect or store your payment card details. Your purchase is also subject to the applicable store's terms and payment policies.

10.3 Auto-Renewal

Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your app store account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period.

10.4 Free Trials

We may offer a free trial for Nexo Premium. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, your subscription begins automatically and your app store account will be charged. Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription. Free trials are limited to one per user; we may revoke access where we detect attempts to obtain multiple trials (e.g., through duplicate accounts).

10.5 Changes to Tiers & Features

We may add, modify, or remove features from the free tier or Nexo Premium from time to time. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes that reduce the functionality of a paid subscription during its current term.

10.6 Cancellation, Downgrades & Refunds

  1. You can cancel your subscription at any time through your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Cancellation cannot be processed by us directly, and deleting the App does not cancel your subscription.
  2. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. You retain Premium access until then; no partial refunds are provided for the remaining period.
  3. Refund requests are handled by Apple or Google under their respective refund policies. We do not process payments and cannot issue refunds directly.
  4. When your subscription ends, your account reverts to the free tier. Your data is not deleted — however, records or features beyond the free tier's limits may become inaccessible in the App until you resubscribe or export/delete them.

11. Data & Privacy

Our collection and use of personal data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms. By using the App, you also agree to the Privacy Policy.

12. Backups & Data Accuracy

  1. While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, you are encouraged to keep independent records of important financial information.
  2. Nexo is provided as a convenience tool. You are solely responsible for the accuracy of the data you enter and for any decisions you make based on it.

13. Service Availability & Changes

  1. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the App at any time, with or without notice.
  2. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of material changes that affect their data.

14. Termination

  1. You may stop using the App and request account deletion at any time (see the Privacy Policy for the deletion process). Deleting your account does not automatically cancel an active subscription — cancel through your app store first to avoid further charges.
  2. We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, misuse the App, or where required by law.
  3. Upon termination, provisions that by their nature should survive (e.g., intellectual property, limitation of liability) will remain in effect.

15. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or uninterrupted availability. Nexo does not provide financial, accounting, tax, or legal advice.

16. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages — including loss of data, loss of profits, or financial losses arising from reliance on data in the App. Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us for the App in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim (or PHP 1,000 if the App was free).

17. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold the Operator harmless from claims arising out of your misuse of the App, your User Content, or your violation of these Terms.

18. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the App or by email. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

19. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, unless applicable consumer protection laws provide otherwise.
